Our English Culture Circle kicks off the new season with Brett Dean’s acclaimed opera Of One Blood: Brought back to life from their graves in Westminster Abbey, Mary Stuart and Elizabeth I relive their dramatic struggle for power.
The political and psychological drama between the two powerful queens, Mary Stuart and her Protestant cousin Elizabeth I, has proved to be a timeless story. In his new opera Of One Blood, the Australian composer Brett Dean and librettist Heather Betts bring the two arch-rivals literally back to life. After seeing Six at Deutsches Theater and Maria Stuart at Residenztheater, our English Circle will now delve once again into England´s royal history.
Of One Blood with its emotionally powerful music, has received standing ovations. The opera is sung in English, with English and German surtitles. Perfect way to begin the second season of the English Circle at Thea Kulturklub. And to launch a new partnership with Cambridge Institut München.
